ASU celebrates record-breaking fall enrollment
ASU is full of record-breaking energy again as more than 40,000 new students joined the Sun Devil family this fall. Our total enrollment over the last 12 months is 181,000. We have a record number of first-year Arizona students joining us as part of a cohort featuring representatives of all 50 states and 160-plus countries, and ASU Online enrollment grew by 12% to more than 73,000. I’m excited to welcome the Class of 2028 to campus.
Moving forward on the West Valley campus
The growth of our student body means more space for learning and living. Enrollment of first-year, transfer and master’s students on the ASU West Valley campus is up 25%. As part of our commitment to the West Valley, ASU just opened Casa del Valle — a residential community with more than 500 beds and the resources students need to succeed. Before the end of 2024, we will complete a 55,000-square-foot academic and office building in service to our students and the community. We want learners to have everything they need to succeed and we are working hard to make it happen.
SWAP Hub projects awarded nearly $30M in federal funding
Universities have an important role to play in advancing our nation’s global competitiveness. ASU continues to demonstrate leadership in this space, most recently by hosting White House and U.S. Department of Defense representatives for an announcement of $30 million in federal funding in support of the Southwest Advanced Prototyping Hub. The SWAP Hub is a collaborative network based at ASU that will strengthen America’s microchip production and national security. We stand ready to contribute to this collaborative innovation and progress.
No. 1 in innovation for a decade highlights consistent excellence
ASU’s efforts to lead in access, excellence and impact are not going unnoticed by its peers. I am proud to share that U.S. News & World Report has ranked ASU the “#1 most innovative” university in the U.S. for the 10th consecutive year. This recognition is one of several recent top rankings, and is a testament to the unwavering dedication, creativity, vision and collaboration of our extended ASU community and partners. Thank you for your enthusiasm and confidence in our 21st century New American University.
